Planted on the edge of the rocks that rise out of the ocean, Farol Design Hotel is set in a mansion dating back to 1890 formerly owned by the Count of Cabral.

In 2002 a new extension was erected, creating a superb innovative interface between the 19th century original building and the daring new contemporary structure that hangs over the rocks to the sound of lapping waves. Unique in concept, the designer rooms were born from an invitation to select top Portuguese fashion designers to “dress-a-room”. 

This year the hotel is undergoing new renovations and an entire interior design make over  to ensure its loyal guests a continual new experience to enjoy every time they return – that of luxury redefined.  

The Mix. The restaurant boasts an ambience second to none. It comprises three distinct dining areas which flow into each other and extend out to the sea. Located in the original main building the On the Rocks lounge bar opens onto a large outdoor garden which spills onto the Sun-bed Terrace in Summer and extends onto other more private platforms built on the rocks that rise out of the sea.
